NEW YORK: The iPhone maker recently won a ruling that means it won’t have to go to court to fight a group lawsuit concerning an old issue with Apple’s messaging platform.

Adrienne Moore filed the complaint after she switched from an iPhone 4 to an Android-powered Samsung phone, and found that messages from her iPhone-using friends were failing to be delivered.

According to the group, those choosing to leave Apple’s ecosystem would find themselves “penalized and unable to obtain the full benefits of their wireless-service contracts.”

However, as Bloomberg reports, U.S. District Judge Lucy H. Koh have ruled that case can’t proceed as a group lawsuit. This is because she was unable to determine “whether iMessage actually caused the proposed class members to suffer any interference.”

In other words, the ruling isn’t stating that Apple didn’t mess up with its messaging service – just that there’s a lack of evidence that this issue affected each member of this particular lawsuit in the way described.
