Appraisement East collects Rs 22.3b taxes in Jan

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement East collected at least Rs 22,298.31 million (about Rs 22.3b) taxes/duties under various heads during the month of January 2016.

According to statistics available with the Customs Today, the Appraisement East collected Rs 8,164.04 million under the head of customs duty, while Rs 10,455.48 million as sales tax, Rs 3,529.93 million as income tax and Rs 138.86 million under head of federal excise duty in the corresponding month.

Significantly, the Appraisement East collected Rs 752.56 million on the last working day of January 2016 i.e. January 30 that include Rs 607.37 million under the head of customs duty; Rs 752.56 million as sales tax.

Overall, the Appraisement East has so far collected Rs 174,814.76 million taxes/duties since August 1, 2015 to January 30, 2016 that include Rs 54,620.78 million under head of customs duty; Rs 90,338.93 million as sales tax; Rs 28,993.03 million as income tax and Rs 862.02 million as federal excise duty.
