Appraisement-South beats revenue target by 5pc in June, collects Rs 6 billion

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-South, comprising Appraisement-East, Appraisement-West and Port Qasim, has surpassed all revenue collection targets for the last month of the fiscal year 2014-2015, the June.

The overall collection by the Appraisement-South stood at Rs 76.827 billion in June 2015, which is 5.0 percent higher than the revenue collection target of Rs 73.476 billion for the same month last year.

The June 2015 collection is 21.18 percent higher than the total revenue collected in the same month last year.

According to the details, Appraisement-South collected customs duty Rs 28.312 billion, which is 1.0 percent higher than the target of Rs 28.093 billion and 27 percent higher than the collection of Rs 22.987 billion in June 2014.

Appraisement-West generated customs duty amounting to Rs 11.912 billion, Appraisement-East contributed Rs 6.399 billion surpassing the target by 1.0 percent, while Port Qasim remained on the top, surpassing its target by 22 percent with a collection of Rs 10.0 billion.

The total sales tax collection by Appraisement-South in June 2015 stood at Rs 36.737 billion, which is 2.0 percent higher than the target of Rs 35.95 billion and 13.28 percent higher than the collection of Rs 32.429 billion in June 2014.

Appraisement-West affected ST collection of Rs 9.72 billion surpassing the target by massive 31 percent; Appraisement-East contributed Rs 11 billion surpassing the target by 16 percent, while Port Qasim collected sales tax of Rs 16.016 billion.

Similarly, Appraisement-South recovered Rs11.2 billion as income tax collection in June 2015, which is 28 percent higher than the target of Rs 8.736 billion and 39.35 percent higher than the collection of Rs 8.037 billion in June 2014.

The total federal excise duty collection made by Appraisement-South in June 2015 stood at Rs 577.12 million, which is 17 percent lower than the target of Rs 696.5 million and 9.27 percent lower than the collection of Rs 636.07 million in June 2014.

A department official said that the above mentioned figures were provisional adding that the compiling of all data would more add to tax collections

Moreover, it was also the closing day for the banks and they used delay tactics and did not transfer the funds into the government accounts, otherwise the collection numbers would have been considerably higher.
