Appraisement-South soon to launch grand operation against tax evaders

KARACHI: THe Customs Appraisement-South’s all field formations, including Appraisement-East, Appraisement-West and Port Qasim have decided to take action against the tax evaders, it is learnt here.

Sources informed Customs Today that Appraisement-South Chief Collector Abdul Rashid Sheikh chaired a meeting of all field formations a few days ago. The meeting decided that a comprehensive strategy should be formed to launch a crackdown against the suspects involved in evading taxes worth billions of rupees through mis-declarations during the fiscal year 2015-16.

“The collectors of all three field formations in the meeting assured their full support and cooperation in order to unveil the tax defaulters and tax evaders,” sources said.

Responding to a query, the sources further confirmed that the authorities concerned of the respective collectorates have started their work in order to prepare the list of the importers who cleared their consignments through green channel, yellow channel and red channel.

The sources further informed that the action again the tax evaders would be started by the start of next month i.e. June and would be continued till the next Fiscal Year2016-17, as the top authorities of FBR have clear directives from the federal government in this regard.
