The sources further disclosed that the FBR authorities concerned are closely reviewing the budget proposals not only of Appraisement-West, but all the departments of Pakistan Customs, including Appraisement-East, Port Muhammad bin Qasim, MCC Exports, Directorate of Reforms and Automation and others.

They further said that the FBR authorities concerned were finalising the budget proposals, keeping the plights of the trade and revenue in front. They would urge the Ministry of Finance to expand the tax net, so that revenue targets could be achieved easily.

It is pertinent to mention here that the MCC Appraisement-West in its budget proposals has already recommended to the authorities concerned of the FBR to make amendments in Customs Act, 1969, in order to ensure transparency and facilitation to trade.

The MCC Appraisement-West in its budget proposals has also recommended to make some changes to the PCT values and HS code, so that imported consignments could be evaluated with accuracy.

The sources further informed this scribe that the FBR authorities concerned after collecting budget proposals from all the departments concerned will compile those and present a final draft before the Ministry of Finance in the first week of May 2015.
