Appraisement-West urged to hold training for customs agents

KARACHI: Customs clearing agents on Tuesday said the 31 October deadline to renew licences is approaching but the Model Customs Collectorate of Appraisement-West has not announced to hold a six-day training.

A delegation of customs agents visited Customs Today and showed their reservations in this regard. They said they have been asked to renew their licences until 31 October but the Customs Appraisement West licencing authority has not announced to hold a training session.

They said under Rule 99 of the Custom Act 1969 it was mandatory for them to go through six-day training before getting licences. However, the customs authorities have made no announcement in this regard. The customs agents urged the collectorate to announce the training session as soon as possible.
