LONDON: Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are now officially out on the market, and the teardowns have begun for these new devices. The big question: Are the new iPhones water-proof? Based on the latest iFixit teardowns, it would appear that the iPhone 6s is certainly much more water-resistant.
According to iFixit, Apple appears to have Apple has reworked the display to “accommodate the new gasket” which could prevent leakages into the display. Additionally the most important change appears to be to the logic board of the iPhone 6s and according to iFixit, “Every cable connector on the board—from the battery and display, to the Lightning port and buttons—is surrounded by what appears to be a tiny silicone seal.”
The report adds that Apple had also filled a patent for “waterproof silicone seals on board-to-board connectors” in March this year, and it already appears to be in production already.
