BUENOS AIRES: The Federal Public Incomes Administration (AFIP) has announced that it received tax revenues worth 132.52 billion pesos over the course of August , 33 percent higher than those registered for the same period last year.
AFIP president Ricardo Echegaray revealed the latest figures this afternoon during a press conference from the revenue agency’s headquarters, alongside Treasury secretary Juan Carlos Pezoa.
The data released by the body also showed that in the first eight months of 2015 the AFIP had collected just shy of one trillion pesos, with a total of $999.57 billion in revenue registered that represents a rise of 33 percent over January-August 2014. The 2015 budget forecasts revenues of just under one and a half trillion pesos over the year.
Echegaray assured to reporters present that the revenue figure “is very big, and owes to the movement of activity,” referencing a jump in construction recorded for the past month.
The biggest rises in tax collections were seen in VAT and income tax receipts. The AFIP received 39.24 billion pesos from VAT in August, 39.2 percent up on 2014. Income tax, meanwhile, which continues to be controversial as some unions push for reductions, jumped 41.7% to bring in 32.32 billion pesos over the month.
