Around 6855 vehicles checked, Rs2.75m tax collected in a week

KARACHI: The Road Checking Campaign has entered into second week in the metropolis.

The campaign was being launched on the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla, said a statement on Tuesday.Since March 20 to 27 as many as 6855 vehicles were checked while 71 vehicles were impounded and documents of 927 vehicles seized.  However, as many 243 documents were released after receiving due tax and penalty.

The Minister was informed that Rs.1,474,363 were collected in term of the taxes, Rs.1,035,166 in term of withholding tax while Rs.222,632 were received in term of penalties.  It is to mention that the Road Checking Campaign will continue till March 31.
