ASO busts smuggled goods in different raids

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive has busted huge quantity of smuggled goods worth millions of rupees in different raids becoming a nightmare for smugglers.

According to the details, Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) on Friday recovered huge quantity of smuggled betel nuts, mobile phones, Indian origin gutka and foreign cigarettes worth millions of rupees.

On a tip-off, Deputy Collector Customs Preventive ASO Headquarters Muhammad Faisal beefed up the surveillance and tightened the security over the information of the smuggling of contraband items.

During the surveillance, the team of Customs Preventive ASO intercepted a Hino truck bearing registration no: E-3251 at Mochko point and on examination found huge quantity of betel nuts being smuggled from Quetta to Karachi.

The said smuggled betel nuts were hidden and covered in the wooden boxes of the fresh apple and the quantity of the smuggled betel nuts is being ascertained.

In a second raid of the Customs Preventive ASO, a van of Leopard courier service was detained near Moachko. After the examination of the van the officers found smuggled mobile phones, Indian origin Gutka and foreign cigarettes in huge quantity.

In a third attempt, in pursuance of information the Customs Preventive ASO team intercepted a Japan Coach at Moachko point. During the search of the said coach, the officers found contraband items. Quantities of all recovered contraband goods are being ascertained and the cases against the smugglers have been filed whereas further investigations are underway.
