LAHORE: Customs Anti-Smuggling Preventive has seized tempered and non-customs paid vehicles worth Rs 6 million from different areas in Lahore, sources told Customs Today here
The sources said that the ASO vehicle squad, on the instructions of Collector of Customs Mukarram Jah Ansari, constituted a team consisting of Inspector Sajad Bukhari and other inspectors led by Assistant Collector Dr Adnan checked different vehicles. The sources said that the squad detained a flying coach worth Rs 3 million from Batti Chowk.
The ASO demanded documents from the owner of the vehicle but he failed to produce any documents. The Customs authorities, however, gave him three days to produce the documents identifying legal import.
In to other operations, the ASO seized Honda Accord model 2005 worth Rs 2 million from Band Road while team also held a Vitz 2007 from Gulshan Ravi.
The Vitz is valued at Rs 1,000,000, sources said, adding that cases have been registered and investigation are initiated.
