ASO confiscates smuggled fabric, offending vehicle worth Rs1.5m

ISLAMABAD: Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) foiled an attempt to transport smuggled fabric and impounded offending vehicle worth Rs.1.5 million during an operation.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that in the pursuance of information shared by Collector Dr. Arslan Sebectgeen that a Corolla car bearing registration No PR-163 coming from Peshawar and heading towards Rawalpindi is loaded with huge quantity of non-duty paid fabric.

After receiving information, the ASO deputy collector immediately constituted a team and started checking vehicles on a check post near Swabi on GT road and intercepted the offending vehicle.

The ASO team searched the vehicle and recovered around 500 kilogram of foreign origin fabric. The ASO staff asked the possessor to show documents regarding the possession and transportation of the fabric which he could not show any legal document. After his failure the ASO team seized the non-duty paid fabric also impounded offending vehicle.

The ASO team after registering a case against the accused took the confiscated items to state ware house and forwarded case to Investigation and Prosecution department for further proceeding.

The ASO team took part in this operation comprised Superintend Nasir Barlass, Deputy Superintend Rana Shakeel and Deputy Superintend Matloob Hussain Shah.
