ASO-DIT seizes nine smuggled consignments worth Rs 50m during Feb

KARACHI: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR Karachi Region has seized nine consignments of smuggled commodities amounting to Rs 50 million during the month of February-2015 .

According to details, the ASO team of Customs Intelligence has seized a consignment of Black Tea containing 25bags (1920kilogram) amounting to Rs 625000.

The ASO team has also seized a smuggled consignment of art silk clothes (24bundles) worth Rs913000.

During the month of February, the ASO team of DIT has also seized another consignment of art silk cloth (2200Kilogram) amounting to Rs968000.

Continuing its operations against smugglers, the ASO team has seized a smuggled consignment of ceramic tiles (2851 cartons) and a Hino truck bearing registration number TAC-999. The value of confiscated goods is Rs647177 and 2000000 respectivly.

The ASO team of DIT has also seized a smuggled consignment of Motor Oil (119 drums) along with the Hino tanker bearing registration number TKA-260 worth Rs1.6 million and 20 million respectively.

In a recent operation, the ASO team has seized a consignment of electronic gadgets including smart cellular phones, tablets, USBs, memory cards and watches along with the Shehzore truck bearing registration number KM-0852.

The total value of the seized consignment was Rs 20.7 million. The ASO team has also seized a smuggled consignment of cigarettes (299 cartons) and garments (104piece) along with the Bedford truck bearing registration number JT-0516 and container. The total value of the confiscated consignment was Rs17.1million.

The authorities concerned of ASO (DIT) have already lodged FIRs in two cases pertaining to the smuggling of electronic gadgets and cigarettes consignments while arrested three accused during the operations.
