ASO Faisalabad impounds ten-wheeler Hino loaded with big quantity of cloths, tyres and tubes

FAISALABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Faisalabad has seized contraband smuggling cloths and tyres and tubes worth Rs15million involving duties and taxes amounting to Rs3.1million.

Assistant Collector Shah Samad Hamadani received tip-off that some big quantity of smuggling items are being smuggled. He immediately constituted a team which intercepted a ten-wheeler Hino truck bearing registration N: TAG- 962 near Bypass Bhakkar Road, Jhang.

The ASO team recovered Shafoon cloth weighed 5500-kg, tyres and tubes numbered 50-sets made in China. The items were being transported from Quetta to Faisalabad.

After recovering the goods, staff asked the driver Namely Naik Muhammad, a resident of Sabzal Kot, to produce the documents regarding the legal possession of the items. but he remained failed to do so on which customs team impounded the items under Section 156 (I) 89 of the Customs Act-1969.

The detecting staff comprised of Superintendent Tanveer Raza Naqvi, Inspector Faizi Raza, Muhammad Munir Ahmed and Sepoys Afzaal Hussain, Muhammad Ashraf, Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Yasin, and Muhammad Dilawar, during raid.
