Faisalabad: ASO seizes smuggled items worth Rs 245 million in eight months

FAISALABAD: Model Custom Collectorate (MCC) Faisalabad Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized items worth Rs 245 million during the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2014-15.

As per the details, the collectorate confiscated smuggled items worth Rs 135 million during the same corresponding period of last fiscal year 2013-14, which was Rs 110 million less than the seizure of this year.

On the other hand, from July to February of this financial year, almost 201 cases were registered against smugglers, while 117 cases were registered last year during the same period.

Authorities seized 21,161 yards of foreign origin cloth, 12,030kg black tea, 45,562 litres of motor oil, 23,630 litres of grease, 31,100 cigarette packs, 4,276 auto parts,1,856kg gutka, 1,556 tyres/tube, 611 electronic goods, 3,305 toiletries, four firearms and ammunition, 62 carpets, 170 blankets and 914,983 other goods, besides impounding 141 vehicles during July-February of the current fiscal year.
