ASO impounds 13 vehicles worth Rs 25m

LAHORE: The Model Customs Collectorate Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has impounded 13 non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs 25 million during November and December, 2015.

According to the details, the ASO impounded Toyota Land Cruiser (V8), model 2009 worth Rs 8 million, Honda Accord, model 2004 worth Rs 1.6 million, Toyota Land Cruiser, model 1996 worth Rs 1 million and Mitsubishi Pajero, model 1996 worth Rs 800,000.

It also held a Toyota Surf model 1999 worth Rs 800,000, BMW (745LI) model 2004 worth Rs 2.5 million, Toyota Coaster worth Rs 3.6 million, Toyota Camry model 2003 worth Rs 900,000, Suzuki Every model 2008 worth Rs 1 million, Toyota Land Cruiser model 2000 worth Rs 1.2 million, Toyota Land Cruiser model 1993 worth Rs 1 million and a Mitsubishi Pajero model 1996 worth Rs 800,000 million.

It was said that these vehicles were being used with fake registration number plates violating the law.

The ASO team comprising Assistant Collector Muhamamd Adnan Khan, Superintendent Saleem Akhter, Deputy Superintendent Sajjad Bukhari, Inspector Shahid Khan and others participated in the raids.

Official sources told Customs Today that Assistant Collector Dr Adnan on the directive of Customs Preventive Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari has tightened noose on the elements involved in the illegal activities of smuggling of vehicles.
