ASO impounds Audi car worth Rs 10m

LAHORE: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) on Thursday impounded a non-duty paid Audi car worth Rs 10 million from Mall Road.

As per the details, the ASO team, on information received through Deputy Collector Asim Awan, intercepted the Audi car and asked the driver to produce documents regarding legal clearance of the vehicle but he could not produce the same on the spot.

The customs authorities considering it smuggled took the car into custody and brought it to the Customs House where it was impounded under the customs laws. The car is in good condition and a high value in open market.

The ASO team that confiscated the car was consisting of Superintendent Waqar Ahmad Cheema, Inspector Sajad Bukhari, Irfan Mumtaz Mahota, Mazhar Bhutter and others. It was reported that the car was seized on the directions of the collector Lahore Customs Preventive.

It was said that the car will be sent to the forensic lab in order to know whether the car is cut and welded or non-duty paid while a case has also been registered. The customs authorities registering case has initiated further investigations into the case.
