ASO impounds black pepper, green cardamom, truck valued Rs02.354m

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Islamabad impounded black pepper and green cardamom along with an offending vehicle worth Rs2.354million from Islamabad Motorway.

The ASO Islamabad received a tip-off that one Hino truck with registration No: GLTB-4597 is coming to Rawalpindi loaded with black pepper and green cardamom. The ASO staff formed a squad and set up a checking-point at Motorway exit point and intercepted the said offending vehicle.
The ASO staff asked the possessors to show any proof regarding the legality of the loaded goods but they failed to do so. After the firsthand information, the ASO staff brought the smuggled goods along with the vehicle to the State Where House.
The estimated value of seized black pepper was Rs0.921million and its quantity was 1950 kilogram. The green cardamom was worth Rs0.142million with the quantity of 320 kilogram. The value of the impounded Hino truck was appraised Rs2.0million.
An FIR has been lodged against the tax evaders and offending vehicle and a case has been forwarded to Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) Customs Branch for further action. The squad took part in the seizure comprised Superintendent Zarrgham Dil Khan, Inspector Asif Mehmood and other supporting staff.
