ASO impounds LEDs, vehicle worth Rs01.00m from GT Road

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization confiscated 15 LEDs of different sizes along with a Toyota Corolla car valued Rs01.00million from GT Road Rawalpindi.

On a tip-off, the ASO squad intercepted a Toyota Corolla vehicle and seized 52, 42 and 32 inches of LEDs. The value of the impounded LEDs was estimated Rs02million whereas the impounded offending vehicles’ value was Rs08million. The vehicles, carrying smuggled goods, were intercepted near Mandhra GT Road Rawalpindi.

Sources said the ASO Islamabad seized contraband goods worth Rs216.66million during eight months of Financial Year 2016-17 against the seized goods during eight months of corresponding year of 2015-16. The ASO confiscated worth Rs407.096millions goods during July to February 2016-17 whereas it seized smuggled goods valued Rs180.43million during the same period of corresponding year 2015-16.

The ASO also seized cloths valued Rs68.00million during current financial year while it seized worth Rs15million cloths during the same period of FY2015-16 and the ASO seized food grains worth Rs16.27million during FY2016-17 whereas it seized food grains worth Rs12.277million FY2015-16. The ASO seized black tea worth Rs2.372million during current financial year while it seized black tea worth Rs2.909million during the same period of FY2015-16.

The ASO Islamabad impounded tyres valued Rs2.558million during eight months of FY2016-17 whereas it seized tyres worth Rs2.498million in FY 2015-16. The ASO seized alloy rims priced Rs0.022million during FY2016-17 while it seized alloy rims worth Rs0.423million during the same period of corresponding year. The ASO seized auto parts valued Rs3.856million whereas it seized auto parts priced Rs2.362million during the same period of FY2015-16.
