ASO questioning suspect involved in cigarette smuggling

KARACHI: Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has taken the custody of the smuggled goods worth millions of rupees and registered a case against a suspect, Jahangir Khan, involve in the incident.

Source informed Customs Today that the Shersha police station mobile intercepted a truck bearing registration no: KV-5148 and recovered smuggled foreign-origin cigarettes worth millions of rupees.

Superintendent Police of SITE division Asif Bughio contacted the ASO and handed the goods and the driver of the truck to them after taking legal action under section 54/550 Code of Criminal Procedure.

The source said that the ASO has registered a case is questioning the driver. At least 2,000 packets of Dunhill cigarette worth millions of rupees were seized.
