ASO Lahore foils smuggling bids, seizes items worth Rs 3 million

LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Anti-Smuggling Organisation Lahore has seized illegally imported cloth worth Rs 2 million near Shera Kot area of Lahore.

Sources told Customs Today that, on a tip-off received through Customs Additional Director Mohsin Rafique, the ASO team under the supervision of Superintendent Nasir Minhas intercepted the vehicle and recovered smuggled cloth worth Rs 2 million.

In another operation, the Customs ASO also confiscated bags of garments laces at the Railways Station.

The customs officials valued the Indian made garments laces at Rs 1 million involving duty and taxes worth Rs 575,000.

The Customs intelligence has initiative an aggressive campaign against the smugglers on the special directives of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director General Lutfullah Virk.

DG has not only instructed its anti-smuggling force to curb the smuggling but also sought cooperation of top officials of other law enforcement agencies including police to assist the customs officials for curtailing smuggling activities in the country.
