LAHORE: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation of MCC Lahore has seized Rs 2.7 million non-customs paid vehicle and cloth.
Official sources said that the ASO squads in various raids in and around the City seized 635 kg foreign-made jerky cloth worth Rs 0.3 million while another squad impounded Rs 1.2 million 3884 kg foreign-made ladies cloth.
In another raid, the ASO confiscated body of Mazda mini truck worth Rs 0.14 million. The organization in two other raids seized illegal 896 pieces of hard disk drivers and one Toyota Corolla car worth Rs 0.3 million and 0.8 million respectively.
The ASO squads seized the non-customs paid vehicles and other item from different place including Shera Kott, Faizpur Interchange and Ravi Road. The sources said that the anti-smuggling organization conducted the successful raids on information of their sources.
They added that the owners of the confiscated vehicle, cloth and hard disks could not produce original documents against the vehicles and cloths which prompted their seizures finally.
The officials sources said that collector of customs Mukarram Jah has strictly instructed the ASO to expedite work on anti-smuggling activities. The smugglers were using vehicles worth Rs 0.9 million to transport the goods and articles illegally from Quetta and Peshawar into Lahore.
