ASO Multan staff remained duty-bound to frustrate any smuggling on holiday

MULTAN: The Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization’s field staff performed its duties to prevent any smuggling attempt on official holiday.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization staff was directed to continue its field operation despites official holiday in order to check any smuggling in the jurisdiction.

Assistant Collector Muhammad Zohaib Sandhila (Headquarters) was assigned a special task through an office order in the nick of time. The Anti-smuggling Organization’s field staff was directed to remain on duty on Monday but, in case of any exigency or emergency, the staffer will have to inform the Assistant Collector before leaving his station with written application.

The Customs Field Staffers of the Anti-Smuggling Organization, who are on leave, may be called any time in case of any emergency after receiving any important alert against the movement of suspect or smuggler in order to thwart smuggling in the region.

Sources told CT that the smuggling attempts may be made via routes of Sadiqabad and Dera Ghazi Khan through Multan. The Multan Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization also deployed staff at various strategic routes to curb the smuggling in the region, and directed the staff to remain watchful.

The customs staff also performed its assigned duties at the Multan International Airport on official holiday to frustrate any smuggling and money laundering attempt.
