ASO Preventive impounds smuggled medicines worth Rs23m from warehouse

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized huge quantity of smuggled medicine including Indian origin medicines from a warehouse located in Saddar. The value of seized goods is around Rs23 million.

Sources told that Collector Saqif Saeed received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled and banned medicines are dumped in a warehouse located in Saddar area. He directed Additional Collector Haroon Malik to take measures to recover the medicines.

Sources told that after obtaining a search warrant from judicial magistrate, ASO team raided a warehouse situated at Al-Najeebi Market Saddar, Karachi. Search of the premise resulted in recovery of large quantity of smuggled and banned medicines. Accordingly, preliminary investigation is underway to unearth the perpetrators involved in the crime.

It is pertinent to mention here that Collector Saquif Saeed directed all anti-smuggling squads to enhance vigilance on warehouses located in different areas of the City. He directed to anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
