ISLAMABAD: Collectorte of Customs, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized 490 kilograms of narcotics along with carrier vehicle worth of Rs35 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Collector Seema Raza Bokhari received an information that narcotics would be smuggled from Khyber Pakhtoon Khawa to Punjab through a white Toyota Land Cruiser (Lexus). She directed the Additional Collector Ashfaq Khan who immediately constituted a special team in supervision of the assistant collector to start surveillance of different routes.
The suspected vehicle was signaled to stop at Chorangi No.26 (Islamabad) by the customs staff but the driver of the vehicle fled away, the vehicle was chased for long while the driver left the car at Kashmir Society’s parking and escape from the scene from where the vehicle was taken into custody and after search 480 kilograms of charas and 10 kilogram of opium were recovered from it. Both the vehicle and the narcotics have been taken into custody.
The FIR been lodged against unknown persons and NDP carrier vehicle while further investigation in the case is under progress, the total value of the narcotics is estimated in worth of Rs.30 million while vehicle’s value found Rs5 million.
