ASO seizes 22,000 litres of Iranian oil, electronic items

KARACHI: The Hyderabad Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized 22,000 litres Iranian diesel and electronic items during two successful raids.

Customs Collector Agha Shahid Majeed received information that a huge quantity of smuggled diesel was being smuggled out of Hyderabad. Consequently, he sought Deputy Collector Umar Farooq and told him about the information.

The deputy collector formed a team consisting of Inspector Aslam Jani, Dilaver Sadiqi and others. The team formed checkpoints in Chori Street and intercepted a suspicious tanker. During the search of the oil tanker, the team found 22,000 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel. The ASO team seized the oil and arrested two persons at the time of action. The ASO officials said that the value of the seized oil is more than Rs 1.6 million. The team also impounded the tanker which was used in smuggling.

In another operation, Hyderabad Customs seized laptop, computers and mobile phones during a successful raid. After the receiving information the ASO team raided a shop in Tecno Tower. During the search of the shop the team found 10 laptops worth of Rs 500,000 and mobile phones worth of Rs 1 million. The ASO team seized the items while two persons were arrested including the owner of the shop.
