ASO seizes fabric, auto parts and air conditioner

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized different smuggled goods worth Rs 317,105 involving duty/taxes amounting to Rs 208,855 during an action near Islamabad Toll Plaza.

The Islamabad Customs Preventive additional collector received information through a deputy collector that an attempt would be made to smuggle foreign origin goods from Peshawar by bus bearing Registration No. LES-6886.

To check the authenticity of the information in hand, a raiding party of anti-smuggling comprising Superintendent Zargam Dil, Superintendent Nasir Qadeer Barlas, Deputy Superintendent Abdul Malik, Deputy Superintendent Ahmed Junaid, Inspector Abdul Hafeez and other staff established check post near Islamabad Toll Plaza.

The officials intercepted the said bus and recovered 51 rolls of foreign origin cotton viscose textile fabrics, 200 oil filter No 90915-T D004 20, 8 kilogram of air cleaner, air conditioners. All the items were confiscated under Section 2(c), 16 of Customs Act, 1969.

Sources further said that Collector Dr Arslan have given special instruction to anti-smuggling squad to take stern action in the regions to discourage the menace of smuggling.

FIR has been lodge against the accused person and further investigation is underway, while seizure report has been sent to Customs Adjudication.
