ASO seizes gutka, diesel worth Rs 10m in 5 days

KARACHI: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has confiscated Indian origin gutka and 400 litres of Iranian diesel during five days.

While talking to Customs Today, Deputy Collector Ali Raza Sipra, who is looking after the matters of customs at Jinnah International Airport, said that the ASO officials have conducted various raids and confiscated Indian origin gutka wroth more than Rs 10 million.

“The ASO has foiled smuggling bids and recovered more than 4000 litrss of Iranian diesel from Mochko and at superhighway in separate raids,” Ali Raza Sipra added.

“We (Pakistan Customs) are determined and committed to eradicate the menace of all kinds of smuggling in the region under the leadership of Enforcement-South Chief Collector Muhammad Zahid Khokhar,” the deputy collector said.

The interrogation is underway from the arrested persons so that their accomplices would be arrested.
