ASO seizes gutka worth Rs 5.5m

ISLAMABAD: Continuing the anti-smuggling drive under the special directives of Model Custom Collectorate collector, the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) seized 2.2 metric ton of Indian origin banned smuggled guttka worth Rs 5.5 million.

Under the supervision of Assistant Collector Tahir Khattak, the ASO team intercepted a 22 wheeler trailer bearing Registration No TLH-987 near entry point of Islamabad, which was coming from Lahore. The officials checked the trailer and recovery huge cache of banned gutka.

According to the laws, the import of gutka is banned in Pakistan as it is prohibited item. Therefore the officials confiscated the items, besides impounding the trailer being used for the transportation of the banned items. FIR No 20/2016 has been lodged against the smugglers.
