ASO seizes non customs paid Indian black, vehicle from GT Road

ISLAMABAD: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) seized huge quantity of Indian black piper along with offending vehicle (vehicle use for carrying smuggled goods) from GT Road Rawalpindi.

Sources told Customs Today that on tip of information shared by Collector Irfan ul Rehman that a Mazda truck loaded with Indian origin black piper coming from Azad Kashmir will try to cross the jurisdiction of MCC Islamabad, he passed on said information to Assistant Collector ASO Majid Gadd who established a picket under the supervision of Superintendent Malak Abad Hussain and Inspector Syed Ali Shah who intercepted the above said Mazda loaded with 1800 kilograms of Indian origin black piper.

The sources told that after interception the ASO staff asked the possessor of said smuggled goods to show if they got any proof of seized goods that they are not smuggled one but possessor failed to do so, sources added that the after interception the ASO staff bring the seized goods to State Ware House (SWH), the value of seized black piper and offending vehicle is estimated Rs.1.4 million while case has been forwarded to Customs Investigation and Prosecution (I&P) branch for further investigation.

The ASO Islamabad seized 187 offending and NDP vehicles along with various type of foreign origin smuggled goods in worth of Rs.315 million during first nine months (July to March) FY17-18.
