LAHORE: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Organisation Preventive on Wednesday foiled a bid to smuggle more than 4 kg pure gold from the Allama Iqbal International Airport.
The customs sources told Customs Today the total value of the pure gold is calculated at Rs 17 million and the quantity is weighted 4,380 grams.
They added that on suspicion, the Customs ASO intercepted one Muhammad Younis who was coming from Dubai by EK-622 and upon thorough search the authorities recovered the 4,380 gram of raw-gold and ornaments from his procession at the airport.
The customs authorities, including superintendent of customs Rafique and Gulzar Bhatti, have arrested the accused Younis after registering an FIR against him under Customs ACT 1969.
The authorities said that further investigations are underway in the case.
