ASO seizes Rs 8.81 million goods

MULTAN: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) has seized goods worth Rs 8.81 million in October.

According to monthly seizure report, the main seizure items include mobiles, LEDs, tyres, cigarettes, gutka, perfumes, beauty soap and vehicles. A total eight vehicles were seized in October due to non-payment of customs duty.

Multan Customs has registered more than 15 seizure cases of anti-smuggling during October.

The cases are on a decline due to strict monitoring by customs intelligence and related department, said ASO Additional Collector Muhammad Faizan Badar.

He said that the ASO and customs intelligence could increase their revenue by curbing smuggling.

He said only seven seizure cases of miscellaneous goods were lodged for smuggling of Rs 1.81 million goods.

The customs has seized and imposed penalty on different smuggled goods which came from across the border without paying tariff duty but sold in the tariff areas of Pakistan he expressed.

Badar said that customs department has no objection on the import of goods which are free of taxes and tariff, adding that it is encouraging for the customs department that their revenue is raising every day due to efforts.

He said, “Most of the smuggled goods come in market without paying duty and taxes which sell cheap in market this situation also affect our national economy.”
