ASO seizes Toyota Hilux worth Rs 3.2 million in Mianwali

FAISALABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized a non-customs paid Toyota Hilux bearing registration No QAZ-8901 during a crackdown in Mainwali. The estimated value of the seized vehicle is Rs 3.2 million involving Rs 2.19 million customs duty.

Sources told Customs Today that after receiving information regarding the smuggling attempt, Director Customs Collectorate Ch. Zulfiqar formed a special team comprising Azhar Hussain Jafri, Asif Hussain (inspector), Muhammad Ashraf Khan (havaldar), Sher Ahmad, Muhammad Amin, Muhammad Yousaf (sepoys ) and Riasat Hussain (driver).

The ASO team intercepted the vehicle near Chashma Bridge, district Mianwali and asked the driver namely Asghar Hussain to produce lawful proof of its import. But the accused failed to show any legal import documents.

Thus, the ASO team seized the smuggled vehicle under section 168 of the Customs Act 1969 and submitted seizure report to adjudication department for further legally process.
