HYDERABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Hyderabad’s Anti-Smuggling Organizations of Larkana and Sukkur confiscated foreign origin non-duty-paid smuggled 395 cartons of King Light brands of cigarettes and foreign origin 29,900 Indian Gutkas worth Rs1million including duties and taxes during a raid on railway station Shikarpur, Sukkur Road.
During the month of July 2017,
Collector Hyderabad Akhlaq Ahmad Khattaq directed his staff to curb the smuggling attempts in the region.
The ASO team, under the supervision of Additional Collector Rehmatulah Vistro, conducted an operation in Sukkar-Larkana-Jacobabad check-post areas and recovered the said contraband items.
The ASO team registered separate cases of smuggling against the accused persons and forwarded the cases to the customs adjudications.
After a seizure report, the ASO team deposited the confiscated foreign origin non-duty-paid smuggled 395 cartons of abovementioned contrabands items worth Rs596000 involving duties and taxes of Rs471048. So the total amount of smuggled items and taxes is Rs1067048. The said impounded items were deposited into Sukkur State Warehouse.
The raiding team comprised In-charge Makhan Khan, Inspectors Muhammad Jurial Abbasi, Abdul Rauf Bhutto, Ayaz Ali Shah, Agha Nazir Ahmed, Sepoys Shabbir Ahmed Thebo, Iqbal Sheikh, Hawaldar Mehram Ali and Driver Manzoor Shori.
