LONDON: Aston Martin introduced various new models at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. On show were the new DB9 GT, the extreme track-only Vulcan and the limited edition Lagonda Taraf and Vantage GT12.
The updated DB9 GT now comes with an uprated 539hp 6-litre V-12 engine and comes as Aston Martin also unveiled a raft of colour, trim and equipment enhancements across its Vantage and Rapide S model lines.
The all-alloy, quad overhead cam, 48-valve front mid-mounted V12 is mated to the rear mid-mounted Touchtronic II six-speed transmission with electronic shift-by-wire control system.
It carries the British luxury sports car maker’s core GT offering from rest to 100 kmh in 4.5 seconds, and on to a top speed of 294 kmh.
Aston Martin claims the Vulcan is the company’s most intense and exhilarating creation to date and Goodwood visitors saw its first public running following its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
The 800-plus bhp, all-carbon fibre, Vulcan delivered a series of spine-tingling sprints up the famous hillclimb. Powered by the potent 7.0-litre V12 petrol engine, developed in conjunction with Aston Martin Racing, the Vulcan is predicted to be capable of sprinting from rest to 100 kmh in less than three seconds, and achieving a top speed of more than 320 kmh.
