The sources at the Customs House Peshawar informed Customs Today on Monday that the Mobile Squad of the Anti-Smuggling Unit conducted a raid on a tip-off passed by Collector Customs which led to the impounding of NDP oil tanker, Model-2005, along with oil under the Customs Acts to carry oil without contractor licence. The Anti-Smuggling Squad, in another raid, foiled an attempt to smuggle Royal Cigarettes and foreign origin cloth.

The cigarettes were being smuggled into Punjab while cloth was seized on the way from Punjab to Peshawar on GT Road.

The Customs Anti-Smuggling Squad also seized dry milk and foreign origin shoes which were being smuggled from Karachi into Peshawar.

Collector Customs Gul Rahman lauded the efforts of the Anti-Smuggling Squad for actively promoting the campaign against smuggling of NDP goods within the limits of the MCC Peshawar.

Collector Customs said that smuggling is a curse to the advancement in customs laws and it destabilizes the demand of the market. Collector Gul Rahman further directed the authorities to take strict action against any movement of the NDP items.

The Anti-Smuggling Squad also impounded black tea in the raid which has been shifted to Customs Warehouse Peshawar.
