SYDNEY: ASUS expects to drive Smartphone sales for the company this year after the launched of ZenFone 2. In fact the Taiwanese brand says that it can move 30 million smart phones before the end of this year, the bulk of those being ZenFone 2.

The device is already available China, Taiwan, and France, but it is in China where ASUS expects the ZenFone 2 to find the most success. The company predicts 10 million units will sell in the country through this year. That kind of sales push would be well beyond what ASUS has ever achieved before, the company has oft struggled to make its mark, but 30 million units should push it into the top 10 global Smartphone manufacturers.

The original ZenFone certainly set the ball rolling for ASUS as the company went from selling 10,000 smart phones per month in January 2014 to averaging 1.5 million per month after.

The ZenFone 2 is decked with some big specs, putting it in the high end market in terms of build and performance, but yet it still costs just $199. It is a juggling act that should be difficult, but the ZenFone 2 pulls it off with aplomb and this is up there with the likes of the OnePlus One and several other Chinese efforts in bang for your buck. It’s that good, and is in fact even more affordable.

Asus also has an “industry first” as well with the company saying this is the first Smartphone to pack 4GB of RAM, something I am sure will become more common as 2015 progresses. There are actually two RAM variants of the ZenFone 2, a DDR3 2GB option and the DDR3 4GB options. In terms of processing power, the handset gets a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor running at 2.3GHz.
