Asus wants to surpass Apple’s MacBook Pro with its latest ZenBook Pro that boasts of 4K display

New Delhi: Asus wants to surpass Apple’s MacBook Pro with its latest ZenBook Pro that boasts of 4K display akin to the tech giant’s flagship laptop.

To compete with Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Pro that comes with a high-resolution retina display, Asus has brought to table its own ‘Pro’ device that features the signature spun-metal lid, diamond-cut chamfers and brushed metal surfaces.

According to report the ZenBook Pro UX501 has a slightly bigger 15.6-inch 4K IPS display with 3840X2160 ppi resolution and 178-degree viewing angles. Asus is also offering models with regular IPS full HD displays with 1920X1080 ppi resolution.

The Ultrabook is powered by Windows 8.1 with Asus’ UX501 on top. It includes a 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M GPU with 2GB or 4GB of GDDR5 VRAM, and up to 16GB of internal storage that can be configured with a 128GB or 256GB solid-state drive, 1TB hard drive or 512GB of PCIe flash-based storage.

The ZenBook Pro UX501 comes with three USB 3.0 ports, one HDMI port, one mini DisplayPort, SDXC card reader, HD web camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Bang & Olufsen’s ICEpower-tuned audio. Certain models come with a Thunderbolt port for ultra-fast data transfers.

The new offering by Asus starts selling on Monday for a price of $1,799 onwards.
