NEW DELHI: Asus offers a range of different models under the name Asus 2. All the models have the same design, but specs and prices vary. For this comparison, we will use the ZE500CL model, which is the entry model of the Zenfone 2 and is the closest thing to a cheap phone, like the Moto E 2015.
Design and Display
You cannot expect some quality in the build from an entry phone. Both devices are made out of plastic and have a somewhat similar design. The difference is in the size, with the Zenfone 2 offering a 5 inches display with 720 x 1080 pixels resolution, while the Moto E 2015 is a 4.5 inches device with resolution set at 540 x 960 pixels. Both handsets are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Hardware and Operating System
The advantage the Moto E 2015 has here is the support for 4G/LTE networks. However, the specs are lower than those of the Zenfone 2. The Moto E is powered by Snapdragon 410 (the LTE model) with 1 GB of RAM. The quad core processor is limited to a clocking speed of 1.2 GHz. The Zenfone 2, on the other hand, can go up to 1.6 GHz and has 2 GB of RAM. Memory space is also an area where the Zenfone 2 is superior, as it offers 16 GB of built in space for users. The Moto E has just 8 GB of internal storage. Both phones run on the Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, but the Zenfone 2 has ZenUI on top of it and the skin brings a much different experience. The Moto E runs on nearly stock Android.
Camera
Few budget phones can compare with the Zenfone 2 in this area, as the phone has a powerful 13-MP sensor on the front, and an excellent 5-MP snapper for selfies. The primary camera of the Moto E is a 5-MP shooter, while the front facing camera is just VGA quality.
Price
As an entry level phone by Motorola, the Moto E 2015 is priced at $140. The phone is tad cheaper than the Zenfone 2, as Asus’s device has a price tag of $160.
