ISLAMABAD: Due to security threat, the Customs Appellate Tribunal has barred the release of 160 imported mobile phones bearing no International Mobile Equipment Identity (EMEI).
The tribunal also decided to export those mobiles barring M/s United Mobile from bringing them into the market due to security threat. The tribunal dismissed M/s United Mobile’s claim for retaining the mobile phones custody from the Customs Department.
Customs Appellate Tribunal-Bench-II, Member Judicial, Maqsood ul Hassan heard the case filed by M/s United Mobile and decided it. M/s United Mobile, through its appeal, 139/CU/IB/2015, had sought release of 160 mobile phones which were seized by Customs Intelligence Islamabad.
