Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue resumes hearing  on tax matter of M/s Huawei Technologies

ATIR declares exerting pressure for ST recovery illegal

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue’s Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) has declared that exerting pressure for the recovery of sales tax is illegal.

Initially, Power Chemical Industries filed an appeal with the FBR commissioner for Faisalabad, pleading that a tax notice amounting to Rs178.83 million was incorrect and unjustified. The appeal was rejected.

The company approached the ATIR against the commissioner’s decision. The AITR maintained that “The appellant has prima facie a good case for the grant of stay, hence, the impugned order is hereby suspended and the stay is granted for a period of 30 days or till the decision of the main appeal, whichever happens earlier.”
