ISLAMABAD: Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR), Chairman Javid Iqbal, has expressed concerns over deputation of officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) as members in ATIR.
Showing his reservations on the issue, the ATIR chairman said that the FBR deputed or appointed officers as Member Accountant (BPS-20/21) in ATIR did not prove a beneficial addition to the body.
He questioned the competence of the officers who had least knowledge of the appellate working and jurisdictions. Highlighting the need for revamping ATIR in order to address taxpayers’ grievances and to provide them justice, he said that it was essential that stakeholders work for betterment of ATIR.
