BERLIN: Audi is arranging to wheel its Prologue concept out again at the Shanghai Auto Show; this time in jacked-up Allroad form.
Fans have been treated to the Prologue coupe and Prologue Avant wagon in the last six months, and now the concept will be given the jacked-up, all-wheel-drive treatment.
The Prologue Allroad will likely receive typical Allroad features, including increased ground clearance, higher profile tyres and roof bars along with unpainted wheel arch and body protection.
Inside, the concept’s styling will reportedly be more rugged for the Allroad, stepping away somewhat from Audi’s current designs in the coupe and Avant versions.
The report suggests this latest Prologue concept will preview the 2018 Audi A6 Allroad, but Audi’s exact intentions for its trio of Prologues is unclear at this stage.
The Prologue coupe is provided by Audi’s 445kW/700Nm 4.0 litre biturbo TFSI V8, increased to 750Nm in overboost mode, while the Avant version gets a 335kW 3.0 litre V6 diesel hybrid powerplant.
The coupe can hit 100km/h from rest in 3.7 seconds, while the Avant’s time over the same sprint was estimated at 5.1 seconds.
Audi’s choice of propulsion for the Allroad version is unknown, but the German carmaker may yet decide on a third option.
