DUBLIN: Audi Ireland is recalling 2,740 A4 models in Ireland for updating the software to avoid any untoward incident during accident because airbags may not inflate properly in such event.

The models affected are A4 saloon, Avant (estate) and AllRoad versions manufactured between November 2011 and mid-October this year. A software update is required to resolve the matter.

Audi Ireland said it is currently contacting customers who purchased a model in this range during this period. Those affected are asked to make an appointment with an authorised Audi Dealer so that work can be performed promptly.

The software update for the airbag control unit will take approximately 30 minutes. This update will be performed free of charge.

The firm’s statement says that customers can continue to drive their cars until the software update is carried out.
