Internal Audit Customs prepares audit-paras of steel consignments cleared during 2012-15

KARACHI: The Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs has prepared the audit-paras in connection with steel consignments which were cleared during the years from 2012 to 2015, it is learnt here.

Sources informed Customs Today that the high officials of the department, after completing the preparation of the audit-paras, have sent those to Director General of the Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs Dr Owais Agha Jawwad for approval.

The sources said that the officials of DG Internal Audit-Customs, after the approval of the audit-paras, would send those to the respective field formation Collectorate for settlements of leaking revenue.

Replying to a question, the sources informed that the officials of Directorate General of Internal Audit-Customs would send the related audit-paras for settlement to the different field formation Collectorates from the beginning of next week.

It is pertinent to mention here that there were around Rs800 million of audit paras related to the past consignments of steel have been found in all three field formation Collectorates i.e. Customs Appraisement (West), Customs Appraisement (East) and Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim.

The sources further informed that around Rs 300 million of audit paras in connection with post steel consignments have been found in Customs Appraisement West during the last three years, while around Rs250 million of audit paras in clearance of steel consignments have been found in Customs Appraisement (East) adding that nearly Rs300 million of audit paras have been found during the clearance of steel consignments from Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim for last three years.
