TEHRAN: Australian Deputy Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ric Wells acknowledged Iran’s high economic potentials and stated that his country would waste no time to revive its economic ties with Iran.
Ric Wells and Iranian deputy of economy ministry Mohammad Khazaee both highlighted expansion of customs and trade relations between the two countries.
Referring to the lure of the Iranian economy in post sanctions era and considering high economic potentials of Australia and Iran, Mohammad Khazaee hailed current trade between the two countries as inadequate.
A joint economic committee is paving the way for inviting Australian active investors, Khazaee continued saying.
According to the report, Khazaee expressed hope that three bilateral contracts on investment promotion, value-added tax fixation, and customs cooperation be compiled.
“According to the worked-out plan, we intend to move forwards form trading to investment”, Khazaee noted.
Also, Ric Wells named agriculture, mining, and education as other potential areas for cooperation between the two countries.
