Australian dollar strengthens against major currencies in Asian trade

PERTH: The Australian dollar strengthened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Friday.

The Australian dollar rose to a 2-day high of 0.7916 against the U.S. dollar, from yesterday’s closing value of 0.7890.

Against the yen, the euro and the Canadian dollar, the aussie edged up to 95.70, 1.4048 and 0.9645 from yesterday’s closing quotes of 95.51, 1.4066 and 0.9630, respectively.

If the aussie extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 0.81 against the greenback, 97.50 against the yen, 1.36 against the euro and 0.97 against the loonie.
