PERTH: The Australian dollar is higher after the greenback fell in overnight trade following comments from Japan’s central bank governor.
At 0630 AEST on Thursday, the local unit was trading at 77.63 US cents, up from 77.17 cents on Wednesday.
Westpac strategist Imre Speizer said the Aussie had risen in response to a weaker US dollar, which fell overnight after “bullish yen comments” from Bank of Japan governor Haruhiko Kuroda.
