Australian police seize 100,000 ecstasy pills, 3kg of ice

QUEENSLAND: More than 100,000 ecstasy pills have been seized along with 3kg of ice following the conclusion of a 12-month operation by Taskforce Maxima this morning.

Police conducted a series of raids at dawn at Redbank Plains, Goodna, Springfield, Camira, Hollywell, Booval, Edens Landing and Logan Central resulting in a number of arrests of Outlaw Motorcycle Gang members.

Three kilos of ice, more than 100,000 ecstasy pills and $60,000 in cash, a semiautomatic handgun, two sawn-off rifles and a semiautomatic rifle were also located and seized while last night police seized a further 2kg of ice from a vehicle at Tugun on the Gold Coast.

The illegal drugs seized is a valued at $18m.

Those taken into custody are believed to be members of the Nomads and Commacheros Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs.

Detective Acting Superintendent Brendan Smith from Task Force Maxima said the operation had seen about $18m worth of ice taken off the street

“This operation has seen in excess 240,000 ‘hits’ of ICE, valued at approximately $18 million, taken off the street,” he said.
