SYDNEY: Upbeat Wall Street leads and news of further monetary easing in China pushed the Australian sharemarket 1 per cent higher at the open.
The rise is welcome news for local investors looking to put one of the market’s worst weeks in more than two years behind them.
At the 10.15am (AEST) official market open, the benchmark S & P/ASX200 index was up 57.1 points, or 1.01 per cent, at 5691.7 points, while the broader All Ordinaries index added 56 points, or 0.99 per cent, to 5691.4 points.
